We (Jan Lundström, Ulf Eriksson, Peter Nilsson, Bo Zetterlund and Lars Holmvall), started from Sundsvall at 8.15 in the morning. Excellent weather with no clouds in the sky. We travelled via Bergeforsen, Viksjö, Ramsele, Backe, Dorotea, Vilhelmina, Storuman, Sorsele, Slagnäs, Arjeplog, Jäckvik, Junkerdal and Saltstraumen.


We stopped at the polar circle for a traditional whisky. After the short stop we headed for the Norwegian border. The road is called Silvervägen (Silver-road), and it starts in Piteå, Sweden, and goes in to Norway. The route is very nice, with lots of mountains. We arrived at Saltstraumen around 19.00. The first thing we did, was to take out our fishing gear and tried our "fishing luck". The same day we arrived, someone had caught a 22kg cod. Later that evening, we fished from the docks, without catching anything. Went to bed early.



4 September The alarm clock rang at 05.00 and we went directly out with our boats to test the fishing. There are a lot of saithe. You can see the herring jump out of the water. Under the herring there are lots of saithe. From above the seagulls attacks in large amounts. In a couple of hours, we caught about 30 kg saithe in the 3 kg class. Ulf Eriksson caught 3 redfishes later this afternoon. Lots of jellyfish in the crystal clear water. Ulf's boat (Ulf, Peter and Bo) saw a couple of dolphins (porpoise).




5 September We overslept until 07.00. The fjord was boiling of fish again. Thousands of seagulls flying around. A great sight. You just had to put the bait in the water and you caught a fish. Today we are going to try to catch some cod. We tried inside the fjord under the morning. After lunch we went through Sundstraumen and fished there until the tidal currents stopped at around 20.00. Lars Holmvall caught 2 bigger cods. Peter Nilsson caught a 5.5 kg cusk. The weather was excellent all day. We all saw a couple of dolphins and a seaeagle.






6 September We slept to 8 o'clock. Eat breakfast, packed the car and put the pedal in the metal. Drove home in 9½ hour. New record, said Ulf Eriksson. To conclude the trip: Perfect weather, incredible with fish, gorgeous like hell.
Sej Barigoule
Till 4 port behövs:
400 g sejfilé 8 schalottenlökar 2 morötter 1/2 dl olivolja 150 g färska champinjoner 2 vitlöksklyftor, hackade 2 kvistar färsk timjan (eller 1 krm torkad) 2 lagerblad 2 dl vitt vin 1 dl vatten 1/2 grönsaksbuljongtärning salt och peppar
1. Skala lök och morötter och skär dem smått. Fräs dem i olivoljan, så att de mjuknar utan att få färg. 2. Tillsätt champinjoner, vitlök, timjan och lagerblad. Häll på vin och vatten och lägg i buljongtärningen. Koka några minuter under lock och sänk sedan värmen. 3. Lägg ner sejfiléerna och sjud ytterligare några minuter på svag värme. Smaka av med salt och peppar. 4. Servera med en sås gjord på färsk grönsallat. Till ett sallatshuvud behövs saft och finrivet skal från en apelsin och en citron, färska örtkryddor, olivolja, salt och peppar. Kör alltsammans i mixer till en slät sås och ringla den över sejfiléerna. |
